Lace is timeless. Lace tops are a staple in every woman’s wardrobe, regardless of season. Today, I want to show you how to take an elegant, white lace top and style it from day to night, from a corporate setting to a formal dinner; by changing one element in each look – the bottoms you choose.
For women who have more pear shaped figures, I want to show you how you can accentuate your figure, boost your confidence, and remain comfortable and chic all day.
This lace top is the perfect amalgamation of sexy and classic. The mock neckline gives the top a Parisian feel, and the sheer detailing on the bust provides a bit of edge to a feminine piece. The top sits perfectly on any body shape, as it has a forgiving silhouette without taking away the attention of any curves.
I paired simple silver accessories to keep the look corporate, casual and night time appropriate. The addition of NARS velvet lip pencil in “DRAGON LADY” is the perfect accompaniment. Wearing a velvet lip pencil is ideal because you can work the colour to your desired brightness. For work and day time events, blend out a thinner application to keep the colour subtle. In the night, go all out with a bold application.
For me, a braided up do is the perfect transitional hairstyle. A braided headband wrapped around a messy dutch braided bun is feminine, stylish and gives personality.

LOOK ONE: TAILORED, STRAIGHT LEG TROUSERS
Trousers are a comfortable option for a corporate setting. For curvier women with longer torsos, the key is to elongate and slim the thighs. Choosing a straight leg trouser and tucking in the lace top gives the illusion of longer, slimmer legs. The belt cinches in your waist to promote your beautiful figure.
For women who have straighter builds or shorter torsos, forgo tucking in the top. A skinner work trouser such as this trouser is ideal for women who have thin legs.
LOOK TWO: BLUE DENIM SKIRT
White and blue are a classic combination for the warmer seasons. A subtle denim wash suits every skin tone. The a-line silhouette drapes over my form to accentuate my narrow waist without pinpointing my hips. Similar to look one, crisply tucking in the top is essential. This ensures your curves are not hidden.
A-line skirts are versatile for any figure. For straighter builds, loosely tucking in the top will give the illusion of a waist. The skirt should be situated no higher then waist level.
LOOK THREE: DARK WASH DENIM
Every woman loves a good pair of skinny jeans. This ensemble is comfortable and stylish for running any day time errands, whether it be groceries or brunch. A dark denim wash compliments the black pumps I’ve chosen for this look. Tucking in the lace top is optional. These jeans in particular are a favourite because the back pockets boast subtle diamond detailing, which ties in with the silver accessories I have chosen.
LOOK FOUR: BLACK, COTTON RIB PENCIL SKIRT
No closet is complete without a black, pencil skirt. This skirt is is the perfect piece to take from day to night, especially if you are heading out to an event after work. The cotton, rib material is comfortable, breathable and appropriate for either summer or winter. A crisp tuck is essential to draw the attention to the lace top, as this skirt is quite figure hugging.
For women with a straighter build or shorter torso, leave the top untucked.
